Penang Chinese New Year Celebration 槟城庙会

Penang Chinese New Year or (PGCNY) is supported by the Penang State Government, Sponsored by the different Ancestral Halls in the event, Planned and Coordinated by the Penang Cultural Inheritance Society.

PGCNY covers 23 ancestral halls in the historic area of George Town. The theme will be different from year to year, various cultural events are also curated according to the theme, allowing the public to freely enter and visit and learn many histories that are never mentioned in Textbooks. The event  include 12 main streets, with various cultural stalls, exhibitions and interactive activities. There are also 14 stages located in various areas around the area, cultural singing and dancing performance of different cultures are presented on the stages, which is very exciting!

As early as march this year, the team has already started to prepare, setting up a team for every ancestral hall in the area, collecting information and planning for the event.

Currently, we have volunteers from ages 10 to 80 years old. You could be 13, 18 or any age you could also join us together on a journey to preserve the cultures.

槟城庙会是由槟州政府支持，槟州各姓氏宗祠联委会主办，《传承者》策划及协调。

槟城庙会范围，涵盖了乔治市古迹区内的23家宗祠会馆，每年都跟据不同的庙会主题，策展各项文化瑰宝，让民众自由入内参观，及学习许多历史教科书上所没有提及的文化资产。在活动范围内的约12条大小街道上，摆设着各种文化摊格，展览，互动活动；还有14个设在各个角落的大小舞台同时段呈献不同籍贯的文化歌舞表演，非常精彩！

槟城庙会的志工团队早在今年3月，就已经开始启动筹备模式，为古迹区的每一家宗祠会馆成立策展团队，尽量收集资料和策划展示的方式。

目前，我们的志工从10岁到 80岁都有，就像我今年13岁，我今年18岁，也可以加入文化传承的行列！
